The DS Lite is going to be released in less than a month but it seems your best bet to get one is to either line up all night outside your local Yodobashi Camera or otherwise pay extortionate eBay prices to those that did.

This is because the DS Lite is not available for pre-order in Japan, as one bemused Kotaku writer found.

I’m not sure if it’s really worth the fuss. I mean, it still looks like something that you might get from a Happy Meal. But anyway, make sure you keep an eye on the eBay listings. The DS will retail for under 17,000 yen but will probably eBay for more than, oooh, I dunno…30,000?

Meanwhile, in other news, you can’t get a better fusion of Japan and videogames than an origami Nintendo DS.
