Animated Animal Crossing
Animal Crossing, that Nintendo game which has had fantastic success in Japan and abroad, will be made into an anime movie, to be released in Japan in December.
The director will be Jouji Shimura (Master Keaton, Shin Angyo Onshi) but apparently members of the game’s development team will also be part of the anime production team.
There seems to be a lot of speculation that the movie will be boring, because in the game there is no plot, not unlike The Sims. But that seems unfair. Ragnarok Online is a power-levelling MMORPG with only limited storylines whenever there’s an in-game event and a fun 26 episode anime series was successfully made from that. A storyline was simply invented for it.
Heck, they even made a MARIO BROTHERS movie, a game that involved getting from one side of the screen to the other without being killed, to save a pixellated princess.
In short, I wouldn’t worry too much about plot, plots can always be written where there were no plots before. I do have a feeling that this will be a movie aimed squarely at children though.

Just though I’d let you know that I just finished filtering through al the comments that have accumulated on videogames.3yen.com for the last few months. 311 of them! Most was spam, or course, but quite a few were legitimate, including some by 3yen posters Yves and Izumi – so apologies to everyone who’s comments appeared so late.
I just thought I’d tell you though, that overly-abusive comments, spamming and swearing or the use of words like “gay” or “fag” as insults are not going to be tolerated here at 3yen. And please, if you don’t have a URL to enter, then don’t type in rubbish like http://donthave1 because it just slows down the process.
Gamers have strong feelings and strong opinions but your comments WILL BE EDITED if you swear or have stupid (or spammy) URLs. You could also simply be deleted at our discretion. We aren’t going to be Nazis about it but we won’t tolerate stupidity.

We have Animal Crossing Wild World and we got a letter saying to send in our ideas to the team. We have new ideas for the Animal Crossing Team. We think that there should be strawberries, bananas, mangos, watermelon and cantaloupe added to the fruit. The town should be bigger and you should be able to choose what you look like. K.K. Slider should come all weekend. There should be all kinds of sharks. There should be shrimp, yellow gold fish. There should be food at the store that you can cook and eat. You should be able to hang the pictures that the towns people give you on your wall, you should be able to give them yours too.
