YAY Soul Calibur for XBox360

Soul CaliburIV is set to be developed for PS3 and XBox 360 platforms. I cannot contain my happiness because Soul Caliber is the best fighting game ever!

After the announcement of Soul Calibur Legends coming to the Wii, some Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 fighting game fans might have felt a little left out. Namco Bandai today confirmed that it too will be able to rejoin the weapons-based fighting franchise’s fray, as Soul Calibur IV is in development for the latest systems from Sony and Microsoft.

The next game is being developed by Project Soul, the studio behind previous entries in the series and will include new modes, characters, and a new battle system. Namco Bandai is saying the game will “propel the fighting genre into the next-gen era” and is also promising realistic, interactive environments and better artificial intelligence.

Soul Calibur IV is set for release in 2008.

Tenchu Z on XBox 360, a warning

tenchu.jpg

Don’t get Tenchu Z on the Xbox 360. It’s a disaster. Graphics can do so much better, fight scenes are less than inspiring. Just like bad food, actually. I downloaded the demo on my XBOX 360 last night to check out it and it sucks - everything is a shortcoming. Even though it boasts of new action and ninja stealth for gamers, it falls short of expectations.

Read a review, written by my partner who played the demo last night too, from IGN:

June 7, 2007 - I really enjoyed the original Tenchu game on the PSX. It was dark, had a high level of difficulty, and the whole style of the game was just cool. It was what you expected out of a ninja-crazy stealth game.

Tenchu Z on the other hand suffers from very poor graphics (XBOX graphics anyone?), an extremely shallow combat system where you have maybe 2-3 different animations for your hits that all feel the same and where the lack of possible combinations makes you feel you’re playing an incomplete game. The stealth system seems to be lacking as well, as you seem to be very limited in what you can do. You can’t do anything but walk or crouch in the dark or on a roof..you can’t sneak up around corners, you can’t distract the enemies with noises/throwing stuff/etc, you can’t seem to be able to do much at all really, just walk around.

And when you do get caught, oh boy the combat will be fun! Just tap the X button a few times and you’ll kill the enemies so easily while enjoying the same 3-hit “combo” over and over again while the guards act like ignorant recruits. Did I mention the combat is very shallow and seems to be extremely easy and boring? Throwing a ninja star feels so weak and uninteresting, the same goes for all the other accessories you get in the demo. Did you try throwing the “grenade” and watch it explode in a… minuscule little poof of smoke? It’s just not very satisfying at all, especially with the poor graphics.

Overall, the demo was extremely disappointing and felt like a half-finished game. Sure, it’s a demo, but it seems to be fundamentally flawed, unless the final game is TOTALLY different in terms of combat/stealth/graphics/feel of the game. It would surprise me it would change so much in the next few days.

MMHMM…

Viva Piñata!

viva_pinyata.jpg
Viva Pinata

We just got this new game called Viva Piñata. It’s basically very similar to the Sims but what you do is your build a garden from scratch and make sure that it functions properly with the proper eco-system.

That means you have to mate your cutesy animal and insects, which they are called Piñatas and get the cycle going. Your garden needs to attract certain animals so some planning will have to be done in order to court their appearance into your garden and if they like it, they’ll make it their residence. It’s really a very, very cute game. My partner is hooked on it …and because the game is so kiddie like, anyone walking past him would certainly give him a weird look; a 27 year old man playing children’s games LOL!

I assure you though, it’s a game for all ages. Just like Katamari!

Halo 3 WILL push XBox higher

Dear XBox lovers and Halo 3 enthusiasts,

This article will futher empower your craze and love for the machine and game. With over 4million preorders for Halo 3, you can expect XBox to be a hit!

There’s no question that Halo 3 is going to be big. Several weeks ago, a rumor surfaced that GameStop had already collected an outlandish 4 million preorders for the game. Today, a quartet of Goldman-Sachs analysts released their own projections for the game’s September 25 launch, with numbers nearly as gaudy.

While Halo 3 is releasing right at the end of Microsoft’s first fiscal 2008 quarter (which runs from July through September), Goldman-Sach’s industry watchers are expecting the game to contribute about $170 million in revenue for the quarter, with more than 4.2 million copies shipped into the retail channel. That’s nearly one copy for every three Xbox 360s in the world, going by the analysts’ projections of an installed user base of 13.2 million by September.

They also note that the $170 million figure could be low by as much as $50 million if they’ve lowballed the installed user base. Microsoft’s tendency to put revenue from games on its books as soon as they’re shipped out could also boost the revenue number, as could any change to the analysts’ royalty model, which assumes Microsoft keeps 80 percent of the retail price on first-party games.

For comparison, Halo 2’s November 2004 launch came in the middle of Microsoft’s financial quarter, when the original Xbox installed user base was 19.9 million. Microsoft sold 7.5 million copies by the end of the quarter (38 percent of the user base), with 2.38 million sold on day one, according to the analysts.

Perhaps more significant than the sales figures that Goldman-Sachs expects Halo 3 to put up is the analysts’ expectation that by the end of its first week of release, the game will have driven Microsoft’s Xbox division to its first profitable quarter ever. Microsoft has been touting its fiscal 2008 as the turning point in the entertainment and devices division for some time, as Robbie Bach first made mention of the profitability goal in July of 2006.

Long Live XBoX!

The XBox 360 experience

xbox.jpg

XBox 360

I am a PS girl…but i am afraid I am going to have to convert soon. You see, my partner just bought the XBox 360 and OMFG it’s the best in the world! First let me say that there are no cables connecting to the consoles so you living room just looks so clean :P

But the games…oh my goodness has the graphics never been better. But that could also be because we bought ourselves Sharp Aquos HDTV to go with it….:P I know, decadence..but hey, you only live once, right?

Anyway, the games I current have that I would like to point out is Dead Rising…it’s an older game of the XBox but it’s AWESOME! I haven’t had this much fun since Resident Evil! I am so tempted to not work and just play games all day but that wouldn’t help me pay the bills next months would it? :P lol

The fun part was playing war games with other players online. The noise they make when I kill them with my big ass gun is rather funny. Not to mention, the handle i’m using is a such a funny handle too…they must feel like crap when they get killed everytime they respawn hahaha. :P

Ahh….i love the XBox 360!

Puzzle Quest

Puzzle Quest

I saw this on X-Play on Tv and i had to blog about it. Puzzle Quest is a mix of RPG and Bejewelled, this interesting mix have garnered enough support and fanbase to say that this game is definitely worth playing. Puzzle Quest is now in XBox and Nintendo DS so if you own any of these consoles, try to get the game. On X-Play this game was rated 4/5 stars that’s pretty much enough incentives for me to play it because really, I’m a G4Tech fan. Love their Programs. Love them.

Check out some of the clips from the game:

Lost Planet coming to PCs in June

After it’s major, runaway success on XBox 360 in January this year, Lost Planet: Extreme Condition is currently making headways for PC gamers.

Now, it appears that Lost Planet will be pulling another platform into its orbit. According to a press release from graphics-chip-maker Nvidia’s Japanese subsidiary, Capcom’s sci-fi shooter will blast its way onto the PC. Nvidia says it helped Capcom optimize the game so it can use Microsoft DirectX 10 and reach resolutions of up to 2560 x 1600 pixels. However, DirectX 10 is not required to run the game. Naturally, Nvidia touted its GeForce 8 series of GPUs as being the best graphics chips to run Lost Planet on PCs.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma

tgs-ninja-gaiden-sigma-2thumb.jpg

Ninja Gaiden Sigma

To fullfil the sorely lacking games that involves ninja, Tecmo’s Ryu Hayabusa is slashing his way to the PS3 in Ninja Gaiden Sigma, a new take on the Xbox installments in the series, Ninja Gaiden and Ninja Gaiden Black. I have not played this game yet but it looks pretty interesting. If it’s anything like Shinobi, i’m in! Some people think that Ninja Gaiden Sigma is made just for PS3 but truth is, you can also play it on Xbox 360.

Check out the trailer here:

It looks very, very playable. Maybe after I am done with Shinobi, I’ll try this out. Hmm.

Gears of War wins

gears-of-war.jpg

Gears of War

Gears of War grabbed 8 D.I.C.E Awards recently including Game of the Year, Console Game of the Year, and Action/Adventure Game of the Year. Sweet. I blogged about how awesome this game looked before HERE. This is another XBox 360 game. Damn, somehow, they’re making some interesting games here. I can go on ranting about how I want one but I won’t.

Over the course of the show, it was a dominating performance by Gears of War, which walked away with eight awards. The shooter took the very first two awards, prompting host Mohr to say, “Let’s not get all sour after we’re here for one-and-a-half hours for Gears of War. Don’t get pissy. Just get a cocktail.”

Lost Planet: Extreme Conditions

My boyfriend was raving about this game since he saw the trailer on TV not too long ago. So I thought I’d check it out and the game does look cool. Check this trailer out and tell me if you don’t think it is :P

Yea so we don’t have an Xbox360, go figure…

So i read some pretty good reviews on this game. Reviews done by people who has played this game of course, duh..:P

So here’s the summary of the Pros and Cons of the game from G4 Tech’s X Play’s review:

PROS

* Awesome graphics
* Good level design
* Fun mechs and weapons
* Awesome multiplayer

CONS

* Some serious control issues
* Really annoying stumbling animation is hard to get up from in the middle of a firefight
* Interminable cutscenes
* Confusing story

Over all, they got a 4.5 out of 5 stars. Pretty good i think.
